Inter-Prefectural Esports Championship 2025 SHIGA: Puyo Puyo Division (General Division)– Shiga Finals

The tournament is planned to be held in person.
Tournament Format and Victory Conditions:

[Preliminary Round]
All 10 participants will be divided into two blocks (A and B) of 5 players each, determined by lottery.
The top 2 players from each block will advance to the finals. Matches are first to 5 wins.
*Rankings within each block will be determined by the number of match wins.
In case of a tie, ranking will be decided by the win-loss differential (number of wins minus number of losses).
If the win-loss differential is also tied:
If 2 players are tied, the winner of their head-to-head match will be ranked higher.
If 3 or more players are tied, a new league will be held among the tied players, with matches being best of 3 (first to 2 wins).

[Finals]
- Single elimination tournament.
- First to 10, wins.
- In the semifinals (the first round of the finals), the 1st place player from each block will face the 2nd place player from the other block.
- There will be no 3rd place match.

*If, after finalizing the details of the Shiga Finals, it is determined that it will be difficult to proceed with the tournament as planned, the format and other details may be changed without prior notice.

Awards: Players who finish from 1st to 3rd will be awarded.
*If a high school student or older wins 1st place, they will be granted the right to obtain a "Japan eSports Pro License" for the Puyo Puyo series, certified by JeSU.
*If a middle school student wins 1st place, they will be granted the right to obtain a "Japan eSports Junior Pro License."
*If an elementary school student wins 1st place, no right to obtain a Pro License will be granted.
*The champion and runner-up will earn a spot in the upcoming official SEGA tournament, the "Puyo Puyo Grand Prix Final."

Other: All participants will receive a tournament uniform printed with their prefecture and player name, which must be worn on the day.

● Play Side Selection

Players may decide which side to play on.
Please agree on a method (such as a coin toss or rock-paper-scissors) before the match.
Once decided, the sides cannot be changed during the match.

● Game Interruptions

If a match is interrupted (e.g., by pressing the HOME button), the player who caused the interruption will lose that set, and one set will be awarded to the opponent. The match will then continue.
